Parachute
The Brief/Purpose

Initially, this project began as an enquiry for UX and UI design for a mental health app. However, after just one meeting with the founder, Niamh Sullivan, it became clear that the main issue was a branding problem.

After conducting focus groups and other research, I proposed a big shift, and a name change to "Parachute".

The reasoning behind this name is that when you're in a fragile or low state mentally, it can feel like you're stuck on a cliff ledge, unsure of which way to turn, and in need of support and guidance. If you fall, a parachute gives you that much needed safety and support.

With the brand vision and name established, we then moved on to creating an identity, marketing material, website and of course, the App.

Outputs

As this project was a complete overhaul, there were many elements that needed to be created from scratch, starting with the brand and visual identity, which of course included a logo.

The logo symbol represents both a brain and parachute, and it is placed above the letter "u" to reinforce that this product is there for you, always ready to support if needed. The simplicity of the symbol also allows for it to transform into other shapes that represent the five pillars of Parachute's philosophy: Breathe; Eat; Meditate; Move; and Sleep. Each area representing a different aspect of your mental and physical well-being...the whole idea of the brand is around reminding you that you are not alone in this journey, Parachute is there as a safety net and support.
